Sci-fi movies and television

Being unemployed has some benefits. It allows you to spend time with friends, family or even the time to go out and explore the world. I may have done a bit of this but if you know me at all you’ll know a lot of my time is spent in my cave, watching movies and or television. Judge me if you will but I like it AND I do know when enough’s enough.

If there’s one thing I like it’s science fiction, most of it too. So I thought I would take some time to list what I thought was good and maybe add a tid-bit with each but we’ll see how that goes. Also these are in no particular order, I’m just writing them down as they pop into my head.

MOVIES

  1. Alien quadrilogy - Who didn’t re-watch all of these when they heard Ridley Scott was coming out with a new movie based in the same universe as the Alien movies. Awesome, just awesome.
  2. Primer - Great story, had to watch it over a few times to get it. Who thought you had to know a bit about science to watch science fiction movies? 
  3. The Man From Earth - I posted about this one awhile ago. Watch it, you will not be disappointed. 
  4. Melancholia - Slow moving but amazing idea and great visuals. I would get into this more but I’ll save it for another day.
  5. Another Earth - More a drama then anything. It really tied the story between main characters in nicely with the fact that another (identical) earth appeared out of nowhere in our solar system.
  6. The Thing - So good. Out of all of the movies I wanted to see a remake of, this was one of them.
  7. Moon - Watch it. Really great film. Top ten for sure.
  8. Sunshine - This came out in 2007, can’t believe it took 4 years to even hear about it.
  9. The Fountain - Love it or hate it. LOVED IT

TV

  1. Jericho - Post-apocalyptic goodness. It’s like Fallout the video game made into a TV show  but more realistic of course..
  2. Fringe - Season 4 has been slow but I can not get enough of this show. 
  3. Neon Genesis Evangelion - Giant anime robots, better than any you’ve ever seen. This series has also been remastered and they’ve already done two of the four planned rebuilds.
